Night Owls is a promising beginning to a new UF series. This book stays true to the UF format in that it doesn't involve a romance. There is plenty of action surrounding a solid group of likable characters. I enjoyed the book despite a having a few issues and I can say that I will definitely be continuing this series. If you’re a fan of contemporary and looking for a book filled with romance and friendship and family, look no further because this has it all and more. Bennett does an amazing job of weaving a captivating story filled with wonderful characters, and a story you’ll absolutely love. Plus, it’s low on drama and that is always a bonus in my reading life! This book is loaded with over 750 diverse photographs that are used to help inform the reader about owls. Owls of the World: A Photographic Guide was written by the world’s most notable owl expert, Heimo Mikkola. Dr. Mikkola is associated with the University of Eastern Finland, Helsinki, and is known for having traveled across 128 different countries over the past 40 years, journaling on all 249 species of owls. This book summarizes his findings, with all the complex details penned down as simply as possible. Therefore, while this may be a tedious read for some, it’s the most well-structured book for an avid owl enthusiast.

Call me Helen. If things are as bad as I think they are, we may as well dispense with the formalities.” Earth to Beatrix. This was the night bus, not a Journey song. Two strangers were not on a midnight train going anywhere." As well as a need for greater awareness of the importance of sleep, there are too many myths circulating around it. Among these is the idea that there’s a simple solution to night owls’ struggles: they should cut down on caffeine, practise better sleep hygiene, be more disciplined – and even rely on medication. In case you didn’t know (shame on you), Jenn Bennett is one of my favorite authors. I first discovered her books a couple of years ago and have been an avid fangirl ever since. She writes romance spectacularly well and happy endings that leave me more than satisfied. When I found out that The Anatomical Shape of a Heart would be her first foray into young adult, I couldn’t have been more ecstatic. I have a huge soft spot for young adult contemporary romance, so of course I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this. I also hope that the book’s (probable) popularity will spark interest in her adult books, which have great crossover appeal for older readers and basically deserve all the praise.

It’s not very often that you read an urban fantasy these days without a ‘hunky/sexy/mysterious/dark’ male lead. That is just the nature of the beast since authors like Laurell K. Hamilton got big. Vampires and werewolves in urban settings are just synonymous with romance. Even those books not meant to be romance have some in them for the sake of being urban fantasy, especially those with female protagonists. There are some exceptions to that rule, and I’ve found that usually those have solid and interesting male protagonists. It’s nice then that Night Owls has an interesting male and female protagonists. The Barn Owls tells the story of a group of owls who call an abandoned barn their home and how they survive and thrive there. Owls Which is odd, because this book is also pretty involved with several well developed characters who are interesting and nuanced, more than a few difficult and fuzzy situation and a decent plot that draws all of them together. Such books tend to be deep or interesting or fascinating or exciting – but they don’t tend to be fun. They don’t usually have the lightness to them to be fun.Natural night owls are fundamentally different to insomniacs or people who stay up until the early hours because of family or work circumstances. Being a night owl isn’t a problem – unless you’re trying to fit into a schedule that doesn’t suit your natural cycle.
