But I didn't expected this book to be this emotional in the end because I thought it will be just another thriller mystery. the characters in here were definitely a mixed bag- some I genuinely liked, others were meh and even some inspired murder (can you guess who that last one is?

She deserves everything 😭❤️That scene with Red and her mother was so beautifully written and I was just crying and crying while reading that part.As Red battles internally with her guilt and grief over her mother’s death, her companions become increasingly volatile and paranoid as the group tries to discern whose secret is the one the hostage taker is after. At first, it seemed impossible that I would be able to connect with any characters that I would only meet for such a short amount of time but Holly Jackson proved me wrong again and again. It’s a story of families, community and the ways a crisis can turn them against one another in the blink of an eye. i honestly should’ve made time to read this in one sitting because the story takes place over the span of 8 hours and reading it in one go would have been so much more immersive.

I loved the first two books in Holly Jackson's "A Good Gir's Guide to Murder" series, did not love the third book, but was still excited to read this one. The sniper might be on the outside shooting in, but it’s clear to both the reader and the characters that this kind of situation couldn’t have been planned without some insider help. The resolution of the entire mystery is over the top and wild, which isn’t a deal breaker for me, but here it felt as if the author was attempting to reach a more adult audience while writing a YA novel, and it just clashed. Reyna and Oliver's relationship sure was interesting, I liked Maddy and Oliver's sibling relationship, though that got a little screwed up, and I also liked Red and Maddy's friendship.
