About this deal

Ok, I received a new power supply unit this morning, 3-pins (German plug), grounded. No hum anymore, whatsoever. :-) Playing along with a Smart Jam virtual band is fun and a great practice tool, and the Auto Chord feature does a remarkable job of displaying the correct chords from songs streamed from your library. I like that I can slow things down to practice the chord changes on parts of Jimi Hendix’s “Angel,” a song that I have always had trouble playing smoothly. Spark makes it truly easy. The mobile app offers several pre-set tones for different genres, but the real magic comes through the community sourced tones created by fellow users. It is very accurate, only occasionally missing chords, and it only takes minutes. This opens up the Spark as a great learning tool, and it will make learning fun. Does it make you want to play?Yes, a lot. The barrel plug into the amp is: outside 5,5mm and inside 2,5mm. If this doesn't fit your amp, you have a different (later?) model

It might occasionally miss the odd chord, and it's not truly perfect yet, but it will help train your ear and make sense of what your favourite players are doing on record. That's a big part of learning guitar. This is a paradigm shift for the digital desktop amplifiers. The Spark 40 makes you want to play more, and it has the tools to make you better. Even without that, it offers a great-sounding and tweakable digital amp experience, with recording capabilities too.A mind-blowing portable powerhouse, Spark MINI delivers innovative smart guitar playing to go. With multi-dimensional high-quality sound, all-new Smart Jam, video creation, and Bluetooth® audio streaming, it’s the biggest smallest rig ever. There is a third-party option available, too, the Airstep from Xsonic, which is wireless and specifically designed for use with this amp – although I haven’t tried that. Spark Amp Auto Chords Other issues: Firmware updater doesn't work, it doesn't "see" the amp. Weird, as the USB works and the Spark shows up in my computer's "Audio" settings. Even in MIDI Studio, the amp is there, but when Felix from PG asked me to remove it from the list it hasn't been possible. So to this moment I can't update the firmware of my amp nor remove it from the list in MIDI Studio. Aside from the headline-making connected features, this is essentially a 40W Class-D stereo practice amp. Inside sit a pair of 4-inch custom-designed speakers, and the frequency range spans from 20-20,000Hz. The sound is massive: it can get super-loud and, although the Spark Amp isn’t designed for gigging, is mighty enough to get you through any open mic night in the noisiest bars. Just as importantly, for a practice amp, it sounds great at lower volumes as well.

I also tried to update the firmware from another MacBook Pro (same version of Catalina OSX though) and the result was the very same. For a super-brief moment it seemed to have find it and then crashed and produced a "crash report"... I rebooted the computer and the Spark innumerable times, tried all the USB cables I got, nothing. :-(You can stream songs from your mobile device and using the Auto Chord feature, Spark will transpose the songs into chords so that you can play along I do not have any issue of the kind you point out at point 3. Sounds kinda weird to me. I find many of the tones I find from ToneCloud to have too high a volume, but not all of them, so it is something related with the tones, not the spark. Hmmm. Our current first choice is the following product Positive Grid Spark Go. The absolute hit amongst Positive Grid products is the following item Positive Grid BIAS FX 2 Standard. More than 2.000 pieces have been bought from us already.

The hype is real. The Spark is an incredible practice and recording amp, and it is very competitively priced. To be honest, we’d recommend the Spark at this price if that’s all it delivered, but once you factor in those smart features, each encouraging solo players to learn songs and stay inspired, there is no doubt that the Spark is a guaranteed home run.I thought that it could be useful, for both we users and for Positive Grid staff, to have a single thread that gathers and lists all the issues the users are experiencing with the Spark Amp/App. And I mean real "issues", meaning things that do NOT work properly, with the phisical amp or the app. Therefore, no delay issues, or communication issues, or tones one is not satisfied with etc. :-) Please try to update the firmware with a different computer if attempts to update the firmware keep failing.
