About this deal

Real matcha comes from Japan and is made from the finest shade-grown leaves stone-ground to a fine powder. OMGTea AAA+ is made exclusively with the finest leaves from the top of the plant and first harvest ground using a traditional granite stone mill, a process that takes more than an hour to grind 30 grams. L-theanine (chemical name g-ethylamino-L-glutamic acid) is a rare, water soluble amino acid and has been shown in scientific and clinical studies to have a direct influence on brain activity, particularly reducing stress. It is found only in certain species of tea plants and most abundantly in Japanese Matcha. It was first discovered in 1949 and not only does it provide one of the important health benefits of tea, it is also the major flavour of green tea.

Matcha contains Chlorophyll. Chlorophyll increases the blood’s distribution of oxygen and nutrients in your body while also helping your body to regenerate cells. Chlorophyll also reduces the production of gas and toxins that occur during digestion and contributes to protecting the liver. This helps to improve liver function, which can increase your body’s ability to flush out toxins. It was wonderful to learn that 86% of our Matcha Challenge participants benefited from better mood, particularly in January and February, two of the typically more challenging months of the year. L-theanine is responsible for increasing alpha brain wave activity, which in turn promotes relaxation. When combined with the stimulant caffeine, it induces a feeling of alert relaxation and increased focus over a longer period, compared to caffeine alone. This is because the effects of caffeine are being moderated by L-theanine.

Throughout the year we also do a variety of ad hoc giveaways, sometimes partnering with groups of other brands. If you are interested in entering these competitions, we suggest you follow us on our social media accounts, which is where we will be announcing details. I brought this over a week ago and I am already in love with it! It taste so good with spoonful of honey. I researched before I brought it and this is the best quality as its very fine and not bitter. This helps me with intermittent fasting and keeps me energised. I totally recommend it!” Every January we run the OMGTea Matcha Challenge where we ask participants to have a minimum of one serving of matcha every day for 21 days. At the end of the Challenge, participants complete a survey to reflect on their experience and they are entered into a prize draw to win Matcha for a year (1 x AAA Grade 30g tin every month for 12 months). The promoter’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Closing date for entry will be Sunday, May 22nd at 5pm. After this date the no further entries to the competition will be permitted. In January 2010, my mum was diagnosed with a serious illness. I vowed to do everything I could do to help her and started working with a breast cancer charity that funds world-class research. I spent a lot of time in the research unit and was fascinated to see what was being discovered. Living and eating well can be challenging sometimes and we think that consuming one serving of matcha each day is an excellent way to support your overall health and well-being. It wasn’t surprising to learn therefore, that this was the number one reason why 60% of all participants signed up. Another key reason was to be entered into the competition to win matcha for a year, which brings us on nicely to the news of our grand prize winner…Researchers examined the effects of three weeks daily intake of OMGTea Matcha on substrate oxidation during moderate exercise. Participants consumed 3 x 1 gram servings of OMGTea Matcha per day for three weeks.

Recent research from Acadia University in Canada, in partnership with the University of Chichester in the UK, revealed how quality matcha can significantly increase fat burning during moderate exercise. The findings showed that participants had higher fat burning during brisk walking with quality Matcha green tea. The tea used in this study was OMGTea. Since my diagnosis, I am acutely aware of the second chance I have been given and try and regularly push myself outside of my comfort zone to experience as many different experiences as possible. Examples range from going to the Opera, learning to play the drums and my most recent challenge, swimming with Basking sharks off the west coast of Scotland. My mantra is to try not to sweat the small stuff and live life to the max. 😊 The OMGTea 60 Second Interview Like the monks over the last 800 years, 82% of our Challenge participants felt more present in the moment when consuming matcha. Here is what some of them had to say about it…In their drive to maintain a healthy lifestyle and seek products that are free from sugar and artificial ingredients, many more consumers will adopt these products.” If you should have any questions regarding this research or the Matcha Challenge, don’t hesitate to get in touch at [email protected] Matcha Challenge 5th Anniversary
