About this deal

Nightrise has a motto: ja sakkath, jak sakkakh, ja sha xul. It is mentioned that Nightrise has offices all over the world, in every country, and its offices deal with "just about everything." Alicia McGuire even got in touch with a Nightrise office after her son Daniel was kidnapped, believing they could help her, but then discovered they were the culprits behind his theft. It is mentioned that in a Nightrise tower, the more prominent officials have offices much higher up than those on the lower levels, so, literally, the high-ranking officials are the highest-ranking. Raven's Gate is the first book in The Power of Five series, written by Anthony Horowitz. It was published and released in the United Kingdom on 1 August 2005, by Walker Books Ltd and in the United States (1 June 2005) by Scholastic Press under the adjusted series title The Gatekeepers. It is followed by Evil Star, released in 2006, Nightrise in 2007, and Necropolis in 2008, with the final book Oblivion in 2012.

Harry Foster, an Australian who owns a newspaper empire operating internationally. He is about forty years old and is most prominent in Necropolis, where he proposes several strategies to sneak the Gatekeepers into Hong Kong. Lohan sells Matt for a fourth time but they are both taken as slaves to a gold mine. Matt comes down with a fever and is too ill to use his powers to escape. When Matt is recovering, they initiate their escape when Matt collapses the mine tunnels and breaks the ladders causing mass panic. Matt and Lohan travel towards the helicopter pad, Lohan decides to desert him and travel away. Matt senses this and comes after him, Lohan changes his mind and they fly to Oblivion. [ citation needed] In Oblivion, it is revealed Nightrise has survived the Hong Kong typhoon and they've also 'added so many strings to its bow that there was barely anywhere where it wasn't top of its game'. Chaos appears in all five books, but is first directly mentioned in the third book, Nightrise. He is the King of the Old Ones. How exactly Chaos came into being is unknown, but according to Dravid, Chaos lived on human misery for many years. Eventually, Chaos attempted to take over the world by driving the human race into extinction, but was defeated by five children with supernatural powers called the Gatekeepers. After his defeat, the Gatekeepers imprisoned Chaos in another dimension along with his minions, the Old Ones. The Gatekeepers then built Raven's Gate to prevent Chaos from escaping his extra dimensional prison. Even imprisoned, Chaos had human followers to release him. Two of them were Jayne Deverill and Sir Michael Marsh, who sought to free Chaos and the Old Ones from Raven's Gate by using the blood of one of the Gatekeepers, now reincarnated as teenagers. The two captured the gatekeeper Matt Freeman and Sir Michael Marsh used Matt's blood to open Raven's Gate. With Raven's Gate destroyed, Chaos finally escaped from his prison and crushed Michael to death, having outlived his usefulness. Chaos then proceeded to destroy Matt, who had killed Jayne Deverill, but an explosion caused by the destruction of the power plant caused Raven's Gate to be rebuilt and Chaos is re-imprisoned in his dimension. He also gives him a psychological profile of Scott, made by his mother before she was killed by Warren Cornfield. In the second novel, Evil Star, Richard left his job as a journalist for the Greater Malling Gazette and worked on another newspaper, The Gipton Echo. He agrees to go to Peru with Matt and gets separated from Matt when their taxi from the airport was ambushed by the Incas, who were actually preventing them from being captured by the police. He stays at Vilcabamba, the lost city of the Incas, and reunites with Matt who went to the Nazca Lines to find the second gate. The Incas gifted him a tumi, a sacrificial sword which possesses an ancient magic thus making the sword visible only to him, but with a warning that when the time would come to use it he would regret it. The cast of Incident at Raven's Gate includes long-term Australian stage and screen actor Max Cullen as a policeman and Terry Camilleri as an astrophysicist attached to Special Branch, investigating unexplained radar signals in a remote South Australian country town.

Raven's Gate is at the very heart of that alternative history. Search for it on the Internet, as you did, and you won't find anything. But that doesn't make it any less real. It is the reason you are here now. It may even be the reason you were born. Scarlett bears a strong resemblance to and is described by some as Lin Mo, the Chinese goddess of the sea. Her previous incarnation, also called Scarlett but known as Scar, found Jamie when he was transported to the past. Scarlett has the power of Weather manipulation, including forecasting, as well as astral projection. [ citation needed] Other characters [ edit ] Richard Cole (introduced in Raven's Gate) [ edit ]

It is later revealed that Trelawny lost the election possibly due to rigged votes. A vast majority of Americans are very displeased by Trelawny's defeat and took to the streets to denounce what they believe was a fraudulent election. Matt ends up living with Richard in York. They get a visit from Fabian, a member of Nexus, who has come to talk to him about a second gate in Peru. Richard doesn't want to go through all this again, but Matt explains he has no choice because he is a Gatekeeper and, as the Old Ones will try to break out again, it is his destiny to stop them when they do. They arrive to find out from Scarlett's housekeeper, Mrs Murdoch, that Scarlett's father has rushed her to Hong Kong on apparent "urgent business". Matt is very disappointed by this news and he, Jamie and Richard have a meeting with The Nexus where Matt finally discovers the Old Ones' plan. The Old Ones have trapped Scarlett in Hong Kong, China in hope of luring Matt there too by using Scarlett as the bait. Matt realizes that the Old Ones want the Gatekeepers to have the diary, so that they can discover where the doors are around the world, and use the door in St. Meredith's Church to get to Hong Kong, via the door at Tai Shun Temple, so The Old Ones can capture them once they step through the door and torture them, whilst they take over the world. It is then revealed that Scarlett's father works for Nightrise Corporation and so will give Scarlett to the Old Ones.
