About this deal

Blue is one of so called cool colors. It should be no surprise to find it in various connections with different metals and other inorganic substances. Closer to the horizon, the sky fades to a lighter blue or white. The sunlight reaching us from low in the sky has passed through even more air than the sunlight reaching us from overhead. As the sunlight has passed through all this air, the air molecules have scattered and rescattered the blue light many times in many directions. In 1871, Lord Rayleigh derived a formula describing a subset of these interactions, in which atmospheric particles are much smaller than the wavelengths of the radiation striking them.

Persian Blue is named after the color favored by a lot of early Persian artists. In particular, Persian Blue is found in a lot of pottery and ceramic artwork and is a bright, vivid blue that was often associated with lapis lazuli. The Bluesky range comprises a stunning array of colours designed to deliver beautiful nails that are resistant to chipping, peeling, or scratching for a minimum of 14 days. And we can present at least five examples officially belonging to the family of navy blue colors as well! When King of England (George III) needed color with strong impact to immediately express royalty, several clothiers across the country tried to develop the right color and shade. Ultimately Scutts Bridge Mill won the contest. Queen Charlotte wore the robe in this color, what gave the color an alternative name Queen Blue. The blue light that gives the sky its colour, is sufficiently bright to make all the stars that we see at night disappear since the light they emit is much dimmer. Why does the blue fade towards the horizon? Also, the surface of Earth has reflected and scattered the light. All this scattering mixes the colors together again so we see more white and less blue. Blue is often used to decorate offices because research has shown that people are more productive and creative when working in blue rooms. The water droplets that make up the cloud are much larger than the molecules of the air and the scattering from them is almost independent of wavelength in the visible range. Historically, Maya blue was recorded to have first appeared in the 800s and was still used up to the 1500s in several convents located in Colonial Mexico, where Maya blue was mainly used in paintings. Let’s digress from the materials for a moment or two: one of the colors above (Phthalo Blue) is actually commercially known by many different names: Helio Blue, Monastral Blue, Thalo Blue, Winsor Blue and also British Rail Blue. It’s known by it’s chemistry names and abbreviations Copper Tetrabenzoporphyrazine, C.I. Copper Phthalocyanine Blue, Cu-Phthalo Blue, Phthalocyanine Blue or simply CuPc. Thanks to its light fastness, opacity, spreading capacity, stability (resistance to acids and alkalies) and brilliant hue it is widely used in dyes and paints.

When the Sun's light reaches the Earth's atmosphere it is scattered, or deflected, by the tiny molecules of gas (mostly nitrogen and oxygen) in the air. Because these molecules are much smaller than the wavelength of visible light, the amount of scattering depends on the wavelength. This effect is called Rayleigh scattering, named after Lord Rayleigh who first discovered it. A series of points on the sky image were chosen starting from the left, indicated by the white dots superimposed on the image above. It is clear to the eye that the progression leads to a brighter sky and to a blue color which is less saturated, or more pastel. Measurements of the color and brightness were made at each point based on amounts of red, green and blue present. In the graph at upper left, the blue brightness was normalized to 1 and the red and green expressed as a fraction of the blue. One result was that the green was significantly brighter than the red. This is consistent with Rayleigh scattering which emphasizes the shorter wavelengths. Another result was that the red and green increased as a fraction of the blue, indicating that the color was becoming less saturated. This can be interpreted as blue mixed with an increasing fraction of white light, which is consistent with the light being a combination of Rayleigh and Mie scattering. As you approach the sun's direction, the Mie scattering accounts for a larger fraction of the total light, and the Mie scattered light is essentially white. The graph of overall brightness above is just the sum of all three colors, with a maximum of 1 being white on the monitor. The increasing brightness along the path of the data is again consistent with a combination of Rayleigh and Mie scattering. The Mie scattering has a strong forward lobe and increases as you approach the sun's direction. Mie Scattering Dow, Bill (April 22, 2009). "The Evolution of the Detroit Lions' Uniforms". Vintage Detroit. Archived from the original on June 27, 2020 . Retrieved October 18, 2019. Australia: Sky blue is the main colour of the Australian rugby league team, New South Wales Blues, as it is the official colour of the state they represent.Dark blue seems to be a popular choice among car companies, as General Motors has long used a very similar shade to Ford Blue in the production and advertisement of its own vehicles. They may look extremely similar, but GM Blue is noticeably lighter. So why isn't the sky violet instead of light blue? The eyes have it. Your peepers perceive color using structures called cones. Your retinas bristle with about 5 million cones each, made up of three types that specialize in seeing different colors [source: Schirber].

This type of scattering increases as the wavelength of light decreases, so blue light is scattered more than red light by the tiny air molecules in our atmosphere. The sky during the day Iris Blue is actually a little bit darker than the color of the blue irises you’ll find growing in nature. Nevertheless, the soft, deep blue with hints of purple undertones is strongly reminiscent of the small flowers that grow around the world in various countries. In the RGB (red, green, blue) system, the sky blue color percentage is comprised of sky blue in the RGB system is (0,181,226). The CMYK Values and Percentages for Sky Blue Anything with “electric” in its name promises to be a little bit more vibrant than the rest of its peers, and Electric Indigo certainly doesn’t disappoint. Despite having a definite purple tone to it, Electric Indigo is brighter, more vivid, and humming with energy. That’s why we will talk about 99 shades of blue color in today’s article, including their names, hex, RGB, and CMYK codes, which is ideal for designers, students, artists, and anyone who would like to use these blue shades in their designs.

Sky Blue Colors – Shades

The official color of the University of Oxford in the UK, Oxford Blue is a bold, dramatic blue tone that has been a part of the university’s branding since 1829. Sky blue is often referred to as light blue, baby blue, or even angle blue. Sky blue is used in a variety of modern-day applications, ranging from being used in historical atlases to color code Germany and being used in Western culture to represent boys (though historically this color was used in the past to represent girls). Sky blue is also used for the national flags of various nations such as Argentina, the Bahamas, Botswana, Fiji, and more. Shorter wavelengths (violet and blue) are scattered the most strongly, so more of the blue light is scattered towards our eyes than the other colours. You might wonder why the sky doesn't actually look purple since the violet light is scattered even more strongly than blue. This is because there isn't as much violet in sunlight to start with, and our eyes are much more sensitive to blue.

Yale blue is a particular shade of dark azure that is primarily used in an official capacity at Yale University. While blue is by no means among most prevalent colors in animal world, we can still find numerous examples of blue colors named after animals. The Atlanta Braves were originally founded in Boston in 1871 and claim to be the oldest operating professional sports franchise in the US. That may be true, but what istrue is that their characteristic blue and red logo is recognized nationwide.
