About this deal

Alfredo: Fur is a big characteristic of Space Wolves models so it’s worth taking care when painting it and going beyond the typical “basecoat one color, then wash, then drybrush” approach you sometimes see. It is nevertheless relatively simple and forgiving to paint, even with a more complex approach. This means you just want to run the shade into the grooves and edges of the armour and not all over the model. If you make a mistake, simply let it dry and tidy up with some Russ Grey.

As one of the original 20 space marine legions, the Space Wolves hail from the planet Fenris, where their primarch, Leman Russ, was discovered after being raised by wolves. After being taken in by one of the human kings of Fenris following his capture by a hunting party, Russ learned the ways of war and became a capable leader, drawing the Emperor’s attention. The Emperor arrived on Fenris and instead of paying homage, Russ challenged the Master of Mankind to a series of contest. Only after besting Russ in combat did he swear fealty.

Step 1. Undercoat

http://www.wargamesfoundry.com - also do a range of similar to Citadel paints, will update when can get chance. Don’t worry if you make any mistakes. Just let it dry and tidy up with Russ Grey. Step 7 – Apply Edge Highlights The important thing to remember when edge highlighting, is you want the paint to be thinned so it flows easily from the brush but not so much that it will run everywhere. The next part of the tutorial will cover some of the details for the Space Wolves, which can be carried on to other miniatures from the Chapter. If I were doing pre-heresy wolves I might stop with the Fang, or do a less blue gray color, but I need something lighter so next I do a coat or two of Reaper Snow Shadow over the Fang, and blend it in areas where I need some darker tones.

Shade all the Eshin Grey joint areas of the armour with NuIn Oil. Take care to keep it off the Russ Grey coloured armour. Again, if you make a mistake, just let it dry fully and tidy up with some Russ Grey. Step 6 – Highlight the Armour Use Kislev Flesh to highlight the raised areas of the face. A little Lahmian medium and several coats will produce softer blends. As for the paints ruining brushes thats something I've not heard before - how are you cleaing them after use and do you ever use brush soap on them after use (you could try a little bit of human hair conditioner on them as a replacement for soap)? How far up the tip are you allowing paint? I try not to let it go more than around halfway up myself and I NEVER let it get to the metal banding (the ferulle I think its called) as thats almsoa guaranteed death sentence for a brush. http://www.acrylicosvallejo.com/en_US/media/e588d28183cec31ffd6dcee6d3718fc3.cms/equivalencias-rev05.pdf

HSLA Colors

Create a glaze mix of Bugman’s Glow and Lahmian Medium (roughly 50:50) and using a fine detail brush careful run the mix into the crease of the face to shade it. Don’t use it like an all over wash. Further highlight the previous layer with Zandri Dust. Only highlight 50% of the wolf tail so you get that nice blend in the fur. I’ve noted before that fur is a big characteristic of Space Wolves models so it’s worth taking care when painting it and going beyond the typical basecoat one color then wash then drybrush approach you sometimes see. It is nevertheless relatively simple and forgiving.

There is still an awful lot out there still to be done, and there’s still an awful lot we can still achieve. I've had a magnificent career so far, and this game has given me so many opportunities and memories,” reflected 'The Voice', who will still represent the PDC on the World Series circuit in 2024. Add some water to The Fang and using a detail brush with a good point line all the gaps in the armour to add definition. After basecoats, I applied some drybrushing to the various areas, a dark blue grey for the darkest areas and then lighter colors for the lighter areas (Vallejo Iraqi Sand and Pale Sand). I then mixed up a dark brown wash (Agrax is fine) and applied that liberally to help unify everything further. Shoulder Pads – Glaze the Ushabti Bone with Sigismund Yellow (This used to be Lamenters Yellow, but GW Don’t make it anymore). Base the wolf symbol with Eshin Grey, highlight with Administratum Grey and wash with NuIn Oil. GW's new range matches with the old range are the matches claimed by GW. However, many of the paints do not match very closely at all and some mixing will be required to get close to the original colours. If you are trying to match old GW with new GW, you'd be better just getting Vallejo game color or coat d'arms for the closest match )

Using a small piece of sponge dab on Rhinox Hide to form a pattern of random dots over the armour panels. Similar to drybrushing, you want to remove almost all the paint from the sponge before dabbing on the mini.

People often tell me my paintjobs are very “clean”, which sometimes confuses me when I’ve done a weathered model, but that really all comes down to neat edge highlights. So get a pointy brush and some thin paints and have at it.
