About this deal

You can access many of the router's settings using the Synology DS Router mobile app for iOS and Android devices, but you'll get more management options if you use the web, including advanced settings for things like IPv6, Static Routing, DHCP Reservation, and IPTV and VoIP settings. The console uses the Synology SRM (Synology Router Manager), a Windows-like desktop operating system similar to the DSM (DiskStation Manager) OS used to manage Synology NAS devices such as the DS119j and the DS1517+. If you feel like there is a point relating to the above I haven’t properly considered or have just completely misunderstood, I would greatly appreciate your input. Fixed an issue where Guest Network might be enabled after system reboot, when it was originally disabled and the Wi-Fi system has been setup to appoint Ethernet as uplink. Fixed the issue where SRM might not work properly when values of QoS were close to those of Internet bandwidth.

Hi Jim, I have tried using an Asus RT-AC68u as an AiMesh node, connected to an RT-AC5300 (main router). Although it “works”, performance is terrible. I then bought another RT-AC5300, and connected it as an AiMesh node (and removed the 68u). Now, performance is top notch! The only thing I don’t like about the AiMesh system, is that Guest SSIDs are only available from the main router. Also, I was considering buying a few MR2200ac units as the satellites. Presumably then I should buy a higher-specced unit as the main unit, and connect each MR2200ac satellite to the LAN port of the main unit? Which main unit would you recommend (i.e. RT2600ac, WRX560, RT660ax)? ReplyAfter a chat with support I learned a few things. They claimed that for my size house (900 sq. ft ground floor, 800 sq. ft 2nd floor), two satellites were overkill and that one satellite was “interfering” with the other. Support suggested that I turn one off. I thought I was doing the right thing as my house has plaster/lath walls and its like living in a Faraday Cage. Support said that one satellite was able to manage 1500 sq. feet. I am pretty sure that refers to 1500 unobstructed sq. ft. Fixed an issue where the Wi-Fi connection may not be stable when an RT2600ac was added to the mesh Wi-Fi system. When a Tri-band unit (RT6600ax) works as the primary router to host Dual-band satellites (WRX560, RT2600ac), you can select one of its 5GHz bands to work as the uplink that shares the SSID and channel with the satellite. The other band remains at the router’s location.

If you have more than one wireless satellite node, place them around the main router and not in a straight line to get the best performance. As a standalone router, it was about as fast as any dual-stream (2x2) Wi-Fi 5 can be. At a close distance of fewer than 10 feet (3m) away, I was able to get more than 540 megabits per second of sustained Wi-Fi speed. Media Server: Also similar to the same app in Synology's NAS server. This app organizes content for network streamer. It supports popular streaming services, used in popular game consoles, including DLNA and UPnP.Fixed an issue where the connection speed might decrease when LG V30 Plus is used as the USB tethering device. The WRX50 has relatively lower power consumption, which is always good. It uses less energy than most routers of similar specs I've tested. Synology WRX560: Detail photos The Synology WRX560 comes in an environmentally friendly minimal retail box similar to business devices.

Fixed an issue where DFS channels might still be used when the option "Allow auto-switch to DFS channels" was not enabled. This link works behind the scenes to keep the hardware units together as a system. It also determines the ceiling bandwidth (and speed) of all devices connected to the particular broadcaster.
