About this deal

In 1992 he told Harry to " catch the Snitch or die trying" and in 1993, Fred and George Weasley declared, with only mild exaggeration, that Wood was attempting to drown himself in the showers after a defeat as he refused to come out when they did. Brief summary of scene: Harry fears he's about to be punished for having flown his broom without permission, but his Head of House has a different plan. Harry thinks to himself that with Angelina Johnson as team Captain, pep talks are not likely to be as long as they were when Oliver Wood had been Captain. Angelina comments to Harry later that she knows now how Wood had felt as team captain, and why he had been as rough on them as he had.

At the start of the match, Oliver gave the same speech he had given every year that this was the big one. King · Kris Kolumbiko · Jess Lafington · Neil Lament · Steve Laughalot · Russell Lucky · David Makehay · M. We see Oliver in passing in the campground before the Quidditch World Cup, where we learn that he is playing for the Puddlemere United Quidditch team. In the 1991–1992 school year, despite assembling a good team, he was unable to find anyone skilled enough to play as Seeker for the team after the departure of Charles Weasley in the previous year.Oliver sat everyone down for his usual pep talk, only this time, he pointed out that even though Slytherin had better brooms, they had better people on the Gryffindor team. This is an example of how Oliver exhibits the Knight of Swords’s tactless nature when focused on his own goals.

Yes, he makes brief appearances, but those don’t compare to his shining book scenes, especially considering how much his character was watered down for the big screen. He was also very fair; it was said by others that he didn't accept a replay after Harry fell off his broom against Cedric Diggory in 1993 since he felt that Diggory had caught the Snitch fairly, although it is unknown if this is true.

Wood also assuaged Harry’s fears by noting that they’ve had a couple of broken jaws, but no one has ever been killed at Hogwarts. When Harry regains consciousness, he is in the Hospital Wing; with the exception of Oliver, the entire Quidditch team is present. In Harry's first game, against Hufflepuff, Dementors flood the pitch and Harry loses consciousness, allowing Cedric Diggory to catch the Snitch and win the match. Then Wood was speeding towards him, half-blinded by tears; he seized Harry around the neck and sobbed unrestrainedly into his shoulder. However, the second game of the season, against Hufflepuff, gave Oliver cause for concern, when he found out that Professor Snape would be refereeing the match in place of Madam Hooch.

Shortly after, Gryffindor House lost one hundred and fifty house points due to the actions of three first year students, including Harry Potter. Wood does not play a large part in the story after this; he is there in the Quidditch practices and in the various Quidditch matches. Oliver races off to show his friends, but in the day-time the wood is full of strange creatures he doesn’t know. He helps Neville Longbottom carry dead bodies back into the Great Hall during the brief pause in the fighting.

He was most likely alerted to the Battle of Hogwarts by former members of his Quidditch team who were members of Dumbledore's Army. In February 1992, Oliver began training the team very intensely in the build-up to their game against Hufflepuff. There is a large amount of fan fiction which pairs these two, though there is nothing in the series to support this, and in fact it seems unlikely with Oliver being three years older than Katie. In rare cases, they may have very slight scratches on the packaging due to warehousing / storage and transport. Oliver is often blinded by his love of Quidditch and cannot see how anything else is more important.
