About this deal

You’ll want to refer to the instruction manual to familiarize yourself with the correct process for threading your machine and adjusting the settings. A good pack supplied with the machine can be a welcome addition, but only if you can suture nice, balanced aches on it.

For its size, this machine stitches quickly, which is excellent if you want to sew long seams (like a curtain hem, for instance). Not only does the presser foot not raise high enough for bulky fabrics, but also the little motor in this sewing machine isn’t going to last if you try to sew anything thick like your jeans. While the machine itself is small scale, it comes with an extension table to support sewing larger projects, but you get the lightweight benefits and handy size of a portable sewing machine. That being said, when setting up the machine, the most frustrating aspect to master is threading the bobbin. However, since that’s not the case, I prefer full-sized sewing machines (like the beginner Brother CS7000X or GX37) and recommend those to any users (kids, beginners, even experts, etc.Use the same safety precautions with a mini sewing machine as you would with any other power tool or electrical appliance. This small sewing machine comes with plus some accessories to start you off – 2 thread spools, 2 bobbins, a needle threader and needle. To make matters worse, the machine isn’t made to last, so it’s hard to know when it’s just a cruddy machine vs. Some of the technologies we use are necessary for critical functions like security and site integrity, account authentication, security and privacy preferences, internal site usage and maintenance data, and to make the site work correctly for browsing and transactions.

Measure the available space in your home or sewing area to ensure the machine can fit comfortably when not in use. If you want to see more detailed pictures and learn about the process of setting up and using a mini sewing machine, I’ve put together two detailed articles. If you are an advanced sewist, have a look at our best sewing machines, best sewing books and best sewing magazines posts and if you are looking to get a mechanical, heavy duty, quilting or industrial sewing machine, have a look at some of our great articles.

Handheld sewing machines can't replicate the full power or precision of bigger models, but they can be a really useful addition to your sewing toolkit nonetheless. This might be due to poor quality control for my specific sewing machine, but this thing is pretty loud for how small it is! If you’re planning to work with tubes of fabric like sleeves, collars, cuffs and pant legs, consider a free arm sewing machine. So, if you, for instance, get stuck in a small space with no power and need to sew something small, your mini sewing machine just might be helpful!
