About this deal

Most displays have the ability to be tilted forward and backward as to provide a more comfortable viewing position for the user. It’s very neatly done, though it is a pity and quite surprising that the sound quality is so very muddy and flat. Due to subsequent changes involving product batches, production and supply factors, it may be necessary for Huawei to make changes and adjustments to text and images so that they match the performance, specifications, indexes, and components of the actual product.

There are several actions that could trigger this block including submitting a certain word or phrase, a SQL command or malformed data. For the money, the combination of curved 1440p ultrawide 165Hz gaming with pretty much unprecedented engineering and design is certainly something special. If it was hardly a challenge to the same degree as on the even wider Samsung Odyssey G9, it still came up on the MateView GT. At least, that is, until you get down to the bottom of the stand and discover that what appears to be its foot is, in fact, an integrated soundbar. But even set to full reheat, the pixel response isn’t that great, while overshoot increasingly becomes a problem. The 'Dark Field Control’ feature lets you adjust the display brightness in low-light scenes, so you can spot your opponent before they spot you.

Using our K10-A with Klein’s own ChromaSurf software, we noted that its maximum brightness hovers around 350 nits in every mode (with the brightest being Scenery, at 359 nits). The Huawei MateView GT has fantastic static contrast and impressive rich and vibrant colours as a consequence of its panel tech. And although it does let you move the monitor quite a ways up and down, and tilt it forward and back, you can neither swivel the monitor left or right (not helpful given how determinantal curved displays are to viewing angles to begin with) nor rotate it into portrait mode. It was most obvious with Civilization VI (where content on the sides is essential to gameplay) and was a lesser but still notable problem with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. But niggles like poor sound quality, mediocre pixel response and limited USB-C charging power prevent it from being an absolute smash hit.
