About this deal

shift in picture quality throughout these scenes, in keeping with the condition and generation of these materials. There are fluctuations, sure - the composited stop-motion animation leaving any live background action looking softer and poorer in quality, and that aforementioned grain varying as a result - but these are relatively brief and understandable instances where the effects of the time leave any 2022 transfer as only highlighting these inherent limitations. A plethora of special features kept me entertained and informed long after the end credits had rolled…and before I ultimately will go back for yet another rewatch.

I suppose someday someone will compare and contrast the nature of film critiques between the almost-all-on-print era and the almost-all-on-film era, if they haven’t done so already. As RoboCop's memories of his former life as Murphy resurface, only his ex-partner (Nancy Allen, Dressed To Kill) stands beside him to fight against the vicious thugs responsible for his death, as well as a nefarious top-level OCP executive orchestrating the chaos from above. Arrow’s original Blu-ray literature warned that, since these inserts were scanned from lower-generation and positive elements, there is an unavoidable subtle shift in picture quality.Much like in my review of Arrow’s 4K UHD release of An American Werewolf in London, do I really need to give a synopsis of Robocop? As RoboCop’s memories of his former life as Murphy resurface, only his ex-partner, Anne Lewis (Nancy Allen), stands beside him to fight against the vicious thugs responsible for his death, as well as a nefarious top-level OCP executive orchestrating the chaos from above. We also have interview shows which feature people from an eclectic mix of the entertainment industries.

Those of us that saw the movie back in 1987 will have a love for the theatrical cut that we were treated to, this Director’s Cut is the one that many of you who never saw the movie on the big screen will know about the cut as it’s usually the one that is on the Blu-ray releases of RoboCop, there are some extra extended scenes that increase the violence and gore, plus a slight comedy element that during my screening had a good few fans laughing loudly. It's gritty, grimy, and grainy, but boy do several shots look stunning, revealing a level of detail hitherto unseen, pulling in close to the very pores on the skin of the game cast; that healthy grain layer reminding you that whilst DNR must have been applied, it was done so tastefully and tactfully, and without robbing the print of any of its underlying textural minutiae.
