In transit, the cooker nests neatly and compact beneath BCB's Crusader Cup and will fit inside the water bottle. It will still fit an issue 58 pattern water bottle and can be packed comfortably into a PLCE, Osprey water bottle or utility webbing pouch. The NATO Canteen Crusader Cup; constructed of high-grade stainless steel, the cup canteen is designed to fit beneath the NATO (58 pattern) water bottle as part of the Crusader Cooking System with the cup canteen doubling as a cooking pot. Definitely lighter than anything I see on the hiking market (except for cottage industry), but I am still skeptical of the BPA linings used in those cans.

I would recommend getting one of the aluminium lids that are available separately rather than the plastic BCB lid. The Nato Osprey water bottle is very stiff fitting in the crusader cup, this is easily remedied by filling bottle with hot water to soften the plastic then pushing the bottle into the cup.There is a wonderful simplicity that comes from taking a trip in the outdoors, a pragmatism gleaned from necessity. Does the mug fit over the old US american 1 quart / 1 liter plastic bottle and the Nagelne in military form too? Although the increased size will be useful and the material seems as strong as, and lighter than the stainless steel Mark I cup, I do not like the indented base to the cup.
