About this deal

After peeling and just before scribing and setting, the logs were cleaned and shaped with a Makita curve base planer which worked great and produced a very nice "draw knife" appearance. We had the good fortune of connecting with Robert Kundel Jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Very disappointment thought the brushes would take care of the de-burr the edges Not, the grit is 150 but seems as if it is 220 , the process doesn't even remove the router fuzz ! It does have provision for dust collection, but how effective it is compared to the Makita I don't know. I highly doubt a major company like MasterBrand is going to remove a machine that isn’t capable of achieving the quality of finish they are looking for, and replace it with another manufacture just because it’s new and bright and shiny. What is reclaimed wood and how do you clean it is the riddle that we are trying to solve and somehow preserve some of or enough of the character of the reclaimed wood and still be able to make beautiful furniture with it. Machines can be fitted with different types of brush according to desired effect and material, and thanks to the two independent bushing units, a corse and fine brush can be used to help finishing. The 3D brush sander is a powerful and versatile tool that can help woodworkers achieve a smooth and even finish on a wide range of surfaces.

Unlike a drum sander which can only dimension a flat surface, the bristles on the brushes flex and bend to conform to profiles.Intentionally using another persons name is prohibited, and posts of this nature will be removed at WOODWEB's discretion. Sanding is a crucial step in the woodworking process, as it helps to smooth out rough surfaces and prepare the wood for finishing. Satin finishing machines, also known as brush sanders, are hand tools for uniform sanding, polishing and deburring of a workpiece. It is commonly used for applications that would traditionally be done by hand, such as profile sanding mouldings or raised panel doors, or to achieve labor-intensive finishes like distressing. After using the machine and the wire wheel myself, I realize those reviewers were probably misusing the tool in some fashion, or were expecting it to function as some kind of portable sand blaster.

The ideal solution for rustication processing that highlight the hardwood vein or to sand the surfaces of cupboard doors/details in solid wood and veneered or MDF panels. So the wire wheel does, I think, open up some possibilities for wood distressing projects in the future.

After they are hand sanded, then it's off to the wide orbital, then they are drilled and bound for shipment. EDIT: After working with this sander for a couple of weeks on a reclaimed oak project, I'm confident in the results detailed in the series of posts below. The ACM BM range of brushing machines are designed to steel wire or hard plastic brushes to create a weathered or distressed look to real wood surfaces.

Because I was hemmed in by the cupping of the additional board and the split in the existing panel, I wasn't able to match the grain as much as I would have liked. Like any woodworking tool, the 3D brush sander requires regular maintenance to ensure optimal performance. I didn't time it, but I was only passing the brush over the same area 3 or 4 times, and we're talking quick passes, not a slow creep.
