Overall, despite the fact that this says it is for up to age 9 this is not great for older children. I love there that there are such a huge range of games, music and audio books available for children up to 12 years old. It has been thoroughly drop tested to ensure that it is tough enough to withstand continual use by children in the home. We the LeapPad we received a Disney Frozen reading game (sold separately), which went down very well as my niece is a massive Frozen fan (like most 4 year olds). Although LeapFrog recommends the LeapPad for ages three to nine, the reality is that it’s probably better suited to the younger end of that scale. The games adapt to learning level, allowing the child to practise everything from reading and writing to maths.

The stylus like other models is attached to the LeapPad 3 so it can’t get lost and unlike other models has a lovely soft end, which make it much nicer to use. He already happily scrolls through the iPad to get to YouTube Kids and enjoys being able to choose what he watching. He also knows exactly how to exit out of YouTube Kids and go to the main YouTube App which is completely uncensored.

One of the things I love about LeapFrog is their neutral Green branding, so I was a little shocked to receive a Pink one. We are a Leap Frog family, owning many of their products – so I was excited to get our hands on the new LeapPad 3. The LeapPad has proven a hit in this house, with my little ones and me, not least because it’s a toy that’s both exciting and educational.They both enjoy taking photos and it is very easy for me to transfer them to my laptop but they aren't particularly high quality so I'm not expecting many keepers! The resolution is 480x272 pixels which is pretty low resolution and some of the graphics can occasionally seem a bit pixelated. Comedian Michael McIntyre said in a sketch that if there are parents out there raising kids without iPads then he doesn’t understand how they’re doing it. When Maggie came home from her first day of school, the LeapPad 3 was waiting for her and she was ecstatic. Your child cannot access anything inappropriate, you don’t have to worry about setting filters or them stumbling upon anything dodgy.
