Description

The book was a bit long for a YA romcom contemporary, and I felt like it could have done without some parts having as much page time.

I can relate to her since I am also really close to my mom, but unlike Bailey my parents are very much together and I'm close to both my parents. those were the things that made you hold tight because you were the only one he'd shown that side of himself to.

Because in the scene mentioned below she's in the kitchen to eat breakfast but in Colorado she apparently doesn't? Being YA, it was actually kind of the perfect escapist read for me - save for also being a child of divorce, I had nothing in common with the characters, and this suited me just fine. they did, briefly, but i felt like it was such an important part of the novel that deserved a more in-depth conversation. Theo was a terrible character, Nekesa wasn't there enough and Scott's niece and daughter were mentioned once or twice. charlie’s a creep and bailey reminds me of one of those kids that says her experience with ‘just dance’ deserves some kind of therapy.

So I thought if I gave you my cat, it would be this big gesture because you know how much I love him.

This is a person, who at worst, was your friend and at best, was someone you were hoping very much for more with, and this is the way they acted. Will they develop real feelings for each other and how will they face the challenges that stand in their way.

when scott showed up at the pizza place when bailey and her mom were having a girls' night to PROPOSE, i nearly lost my shit because the timing could not have been worse; the one day it's just bailey and her mom? I'm a huge fan of Lynn Painter, almost all of the time her stories lift my spirts, make me crack up and get all giddy and kick my feet. The banter was cute, and age-appropriate for the characters ( something that I find ++important when it does come to the YA genre ), and even though I found that their feelings were “big” for their ages, it’s probably just because I’m looking at that time period from the rearview mirror. Both characters came from families who went through divorce and were learning to navigate the challenges of their parents getting into new relationships. I didn't like the decisions some of the characters made and I didn't like the miscommunication near the end of the book.It was dual pov but Charlie’s chapters felt few and far between, and I would have loved to learn more about his family. They fake date to piss off Scott, then that just goes nowhere, then they date but don't date at the same time (I can safely say that situationships and romance books should never go together) then they break up despite not dating whilst dating and then some friendship drama happens and BOOM! that was all just kinda weird 😭 and i felt bad because of everything that was happening with her parents. I was a bit frustrated at the characters at times, especially when they arbitrarily had arguments or miscommunicated for no reason, but I really loved the plot and pets in this book.

I was too much of a simp to actually tell Bec to stop texting me unless she wanted to get back together, but it was how I felt. picture taking one of those trope booktok videos and dropping it into a PR blender and you have this book.

Request Rejected This page is unavailable due to either geographic restrictions or other restrictions in place at this time. plus these book are so incredibly unrealistic and it annoys me bc shit like this never happens but it’s YA so i need to stop being such a scrooge.
