Jack forces his way into the investigation and so has a close up view of the investigation and the hunt for the perpetrator who becomes known as The Poet. I missed out on Jack McEvoy when I discovered Michael Connelly a few years ago; concentrating on the excellent Harry Bosch series (rather than the "Harry Bosch Universe"). The books featured on this site are aimed primarily at readers aged 13 or above and therefore you must be 13 years or over to sign up to our newsletter.

Michael Connelly breaks these rules in The Poet and in the follow-up novel, The Narrows by mixing the first and third person.Jack McEvoy, a crime reporter for the Rocky Mountain News, is informed that his identical twin brother Sean, a Denver homicide detective, has died in an apparent suicide. There were moments at which I had to make a concerted effort to suspend disbelief, but in the end, it was an enjoyable read, just not a recommended listen.

Jack is a hot shot reporter in Colorado whose twin brother Sean happens to be a homicide detective in Denver. I like his Harry Bosch tales but have checked the writing style before making my most recent purchases. So it seems like the old Rocky Mountain News had some pretty sloppy business practices going on when it came to covering stories. Una de las cosas que más me gustan de haber llegado tarde a esta serie es ir viendo la aplicación de las nuevas tecnologías al método policial. From an objective standpoint, the killer’s life is a sad one, and he appears (like almost all pedophiles) to have been a victim of gross sexual abuse as a child himself. I had to check myself on occasion when Jack didn't react the way I thought he should have, like a cop. No se sabe cuánto tiempo porque todas y casa una de sus víctimas, hasta ahora, fueron en su día confundidas con suicidios.

Also: I was nodding off over the trifling details in the conversations among the various characters; the book easily could have been pared back by a third, or so.Along the way, Jack will become involved with a beautiful FBI agent named Rachel Walling and before all is said and done, Jack winds up putting himself in the sights of the deadly Poet.

Sadly, this discomfort carried over to the rest of the novel, tainting what I would have otherwise considered an excellent thriller. En esta entrega (1995), vemos al personal ya con portátiles y móviles, tirando de internet vía módem y conexión telefónica. The book also features the first appearance of FBI agent Rachel Walling, a recurring character in Connelly's novels. Sean had been investigating the homicide of an attractive young woman and it was assumed by all the failure to track down the 'doer' had contributed to Sean taking his own life. This is less of a review than it is a sort of caveat to my rating—the caveat being that I listened to this book. When he finds a similar cop suicide in Chicago, Jake heads to DC to view an FBI study on cop suicides and runs into Rachel Walling, the toughest and most beautiful special agent ever.
